Ausiello: Stop begging and start organizing a campaign, because we're running out of time. In just a few short weeks, Daisies will complete its 13-episode order, and if ABC doesn't order more scripts, like, soon, we're crap out of luck.

Pushing Daisies Is in Danger! Can This Show Be Saved?

The facts are these:

Pushing Daisies needs your help.

Production on episode 13 of season two begins Monday, and that is the last episode currently ordered by ABC for this series. So far the Alphabet network has given no indication to producers that a full-season pickup is on it's way (nine additional episodes).

Yes, the Emmy-winning fairy tale could very well end in just a few weeks, and if that were the case, no one who loves good TV would live happily ever after.

Is the situation really as dire as it seems? And can anything be done to save Ned the Pie Maker and friends?

THE CALL TO ACTION

TV fans of the world, in this time of ongoing international turmoil, economic collapse and environmental wackiness, it is important that we come together to save the last best hope of miraculous broadcast television: Pushing Daisies.

TV was once a vast wasteland, but through ingenuity and small-screen spirit it has been turned into a flourishing paradise of awesome. However, if we begin to let go of revelations like Pushing Daisies on ABC, there is a very real threat to quality television as we know it. The wasteland may creep back and overtake all that is gracious and good in our living rooms every night. Join the fight against the scourge of bad TV, won't you?

THE SITUATION

ABC has only picked up 13 episodes for the current second season, and show runner Bryan Fuller confirms to me that so far, his team has not received word of a pickup by ABC for a full season.

Despite widespread critical acclaim and fan adoration, ratings for season two are down, and Daisies is deep into the "Cancel" zone of TVbytheNumbers' Renew-Cancel Index (which predicts the TV futures market based on a show's 18-49 ratings as a proportion of its network's 18-49 average). If you wanted to freak out now, that would be OK.

THE PLAN

So what can we, the fans, do to show our support and convince the powers that be at ABC to keep Daisies on the air?

* SIGN UP: Sign the Save Daises online petition. (

* TUNE IN: Tonight, watch the show. Live. In your house. Look for the glowing box that receives pictures via bunny ears, a satellite or a coaxial cable coming out of the wall. (Everything else on TV at that time? Obama, Obama and then more Obama. So there's no downside for you—you won't miss any other show—and the upside is that the show's prospects might perk up!) For that matter, email five of your friends right now and tell them to watch (especially if you happen to know anyone with those magical Nielsen's boxes).
* TURN ON: Go to ABC.com and play old episodes. If you have some spare change, download a few from iTunes. If Daisies brings in enough digital dime, that revenue might offset the on-air losses.
* REACH OUT: Contact ABC online or use the quaint ol' post office to send a letter explaining, in your own passionate but polite words, why and how Daisies is the birdhouse in your soul. The address for ABC is 500 S. Buena Vista St., Burbank, CA 91521-4551.
* PUSH THOSE DAISIES: There are 23,000 species in the daisy family of flowers, including marigolds, coneflowers, sunflowers, chamomile, chrysanthemums, dahlias and zinnias. Send a bunch of your faves to ABC, or better yet, send flower seeds. They're light and therefore cheap to ship. Seeds last for years and won't go bad or go to waste, and they could be planted to grow into something beautiful in the spring. Don't forget to include a note explaining that this is for the love of Daisies!

THE CHANCES

What are the chances of saving Daisies? I don't know what ABC programming execs are thinking right now, but I do know that I wouldn't be much of a Bryan Fuller fan if I didn't believe in miracles and magic.

Yes, this is show business and not show friends.

Yes, multinational corporations tend to favor fat profits over creative indulgences.

And yes, the economy is the tank, so if this world ran on logic alone, ABC would surely chop up Daisies and sell the parts for scrap.

But there is more to life than filthy lucre. I have to believe that the people at Disney-ABC understand the power of enchantment, and that if magic were easy, everyone would do it. The cast and creators of Daisies are making magic and shutting them down would be a travesty at a time when we need all the hope and happiness we can get. Something as unique, beautiful and truly special as Pushing Daisies deserves a second chance.

This is what I can tell you hundreds of panicked fans who have emailed in this evening after hearing a fast-spreading rumor that Pushing Daisies has been canceled.

I've just checked in with very reliable and high-placed sources connected to the show, who tell me that ABC has not yet told producers the fate of the series.

Still, there is some truth to the rumor going around...

The current rumor being spread is that Daisies producers were told by ABC to treat episode 13 as a series finale, which some fans have interpreted as definitive news that the network decided to cancel the series.

Not true, say my very reliable sources. Producers have not yet been told whether they will receive a pickup for the remaining nine episodes of the current second season.

However, it is true that producers were told to change the plan for the 13th episode, which initially was a two-parter, with payoff in the 14th episode. According to insiders, ABC told producers to make number 13 a stand-alone episode and to "cover all bases," meaning that the episode should be able to serve as either a series finale or a launch pad into the final nine episodes of season two.

While the final scene of episode 13 would be a powerful final image of the series (it involves Charlotte Charles), I'm told there will be many storyline threads left unanswered, and trust me, you fans will not be happy if you don't get those back nine and the resolution to those stories.

Insiders at ABC tell me that the call on Daisies' fate might not come for a few weeks, as the decision-makers want to see how viewing patterns shift after the election on Tuesday.

The good news? Last night's episode was up a million viewers.

And really, what better way to celebrate the end of the election-news onslaught than with a genius, creative hour of fantasy-fun drama on Wednesday nights?

Pushing Daisies has been axed. Fiction. An ABC insider insists that no final decision has been made re: Daisies. (The net has until mid-January to order more episodes.) But with production set to wrap early next week on the show's 13th and possibly-final episode, there's little reason to be optimistic. (This also doesn't bode well.) At least if the series bites the dust, as EW's Lynette Rice reported exclusively, Bryan Fuller has said that he'd return to Heroes. Silver lining, kids!

Dodatni dokaz da je serija gotova: Lost će se emitirati srijedom u 9... Sumnjam da će Private Practice stavit onda u 8 (my guess - nakon Samanthe Who?), al isto tako sumnjam da će biti mjesta i za PD jer imaju 3 drame i 5 hum. serija planirane za midseason

EDIT: Sad razmišljam baš - srijedom u 8 će biti Idol, sumnjam da će se ABC usudit stavit neku novu seriju u taj timeslot

Uostalom, koju bi seriju uopće mogli tamo staviti a da je Idol ne uništi?

Inace, ja sam mislio da ce Lost ici u 8 pm.....jedino bi ona mogla da se nosi sa Idolom....ovako.....ne znam sto bi mogli stavit.....jedino da prebace PP u 8 p.m. a poslije Losta stave neku od tih novih serija (sto bi bio sjajan lead in)

Neće riskirat da stave PP u 8 jer se serija i ovako i onako jedva drži... A i tijekom February Sweepsa će biti Grey's/PP crossover kroz nekoliko epizoda, i time bi onda (ako stave PP protiv Idola, ofkorz) zeznuli gledanost i GA...

Season 2 Done, work on Season 3 to start in May!

Just got word from my source on PD and it’s some pretty good news:

“So, we got some news this AM. Keep in mind, this could very well change. At any moment. But as of now, we are ‘going down for the season’. Which means that they are planning on starting us back in May for Season 3.

If you can, please let the fans know that they SHOULDN’T stop sending things to ABC. The more that people speak out, the better the chances of us returning. If it gets too quiet, they will pull the plug b/f we get a chance to start season 3. ABC is listening to everyone. And EVERYONE knows of your site.”

What that means is that Season 2 will only be 13 episodes. When Pushing Daisies ends production on the 13th episode of the season 2, they will be done until May, when they will start production on Season 3. While this is great news, we still need to help save Pushing Daisies, and let ABC know, now more than ever, that we can’t live without this show!

Don't get me wrong, ne želim da otkažu seriju, al skraćena sezona i 9-mjesečna pauza je i bio glavni čimbenik propasti serije

Mickey: While it's true that the show's ratings (it has hovered around 6 million viewers all season) haven't set the world on fire, let's put a pin in the discussion for now, Sara. The Buzz is that the network has until January to exercise its options with the show, so we may still be weeks away from any sort of decision.

ABC's "Pushing Daisies" wraps production on its 13th episode today and industry sources are buzzing that the network does not plan to order more episodes.

Yet ABC spokesperson says no decision has been made, and series creator Bryan Fuller says he has not heard a verdict.

"We have heard nothing in any official capacity," Fuller says. "Our ABC exec was on the set last night saying they are still swinging in the fight to keep 'Daisies' on the air. Spirits are high and hopeful and everyone here is very proud of our work and this show."

The show will have to be alerted soon to avoid disruption of production.

"Daisies" has averaged 6.6 million viewers and a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating this season.

Fuller has previously said he may return to the writing staff of NBC's beleaguered "Heroes" if "Daisies" is shut down. ABC has only canceled one series so far this season, the game show "Opportunity Knocks."

Još jučer je navodno trebao doć ABCev raspored... Prošli tjedan je rečeno ovaj tjedan, a u utorak je na TFCu pisalo da bi službeni ABCev raspored mogao doć rano ujutro sutra... Prošlo je 36h odonda

According to talk around town, ABC is leaning toward not picking up any more episodes of the critically acclaimed, but little seen, hour-long drama this season. Show is currently winding down production on its 13-episode order.

But an ABC spokeswoman stressed that no final decision has yet been made on the show. Alphabet execs are still big fans of the show, and blame "Daisies'" strike-induced ten month hiatus for this fall's struggling numbers.

As a result, net may be mulling a plan to extend its options on the show's cast and attempt another relaunch next year.

But that's a long shot possibility. At a recent Paley Center panel, showrunner Bryan Fuller said he'd consider continuing the "Daisies" storyline via comic book if the show was canceled.

"Daisies," which has earned raves for its quirky storylines and stylish design, has averaged just 6.6 million views overall, and a 2.3 rating and 5 share after five episodes this season. Show has been pre-empted the past two weeks, first for a "Dancing with the Stars" results show, and this week because of the CMA Awards.
