Baš vrijeme stvarno brzo ide..

NBC i FOX zajedno! :top:

NBC has picked its first new drama series for next season: J.J. Abrams’ “Undercovers.”

Abrams co-wrote, produced and directed the “Undercovers” pilot, which stars British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Boris Kodjoe as a married couple who are re-activated as CIA agents after years of retirement. “Undercovers” also marks the first pilot Abrams has directed since 2004’s “Lost.”

“We have tremendous confidence in this promising series and feel this is a great way to kick off our upcoming Upfront development announcements,” said Jeff Gaspin, Chairman, NBC Universal Television Entertainment. “J.J. has delivered another signature series along with our partners at Warner Bros and we couldn’t be happier.”

Produced by Bonanza, Bad Robot and Warner Bros., “Undercovers” was the first completed drama pilot to get turned in at NBC. Given Abrams pedigree, few doubted the show would receive a series order, though sources say the decision was made easy since the network was thrilled with the pilot.

Abrams’ deal called for the network to decide on the pickup by today, so an early announcement was also expected.

“Having J.J. on our creative team is a great reason for celebration,” said NBC primetime president Angela Bromstad. “In ‘Undercovers,’ he’s found a breakout couple that is rich in character and brimming with romance and action. We feel he’s found the perfect cast.”

Josh Reims (“Brothers and Sisters”) also serves as a co-writer and executive producer and Bryan Burk ("Fringe," "Lost, "Alias") is an executive producer.

Most compare the plot to a modern-day “Hart to Hart" or the film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Here's the first extensive logline for the show:

Outwardly, Steven Bloom (Boris Kodjoe, "Resident Evil: Afterlife") and his wife, Samantha (Gugu Mbatha-Raw, “Bonekickers”), are a typical married couple who own a small catering company in Los Angeles and are helped by Samantha’s easily frazzled younger sister, Lizzy (Jessica Parker Kennedy, “Smallville”). Secretly, the duo were two of the CIA’s best spies until they fell in love on the job five years ago and retired. When fellow spy and friend Nash (Carter MacIntyre, "American Heiress") goes missing while on the trail of a Russian arms dealer, the Blooms are reinstated by boss Carlton Shaw (Gerald McRaney, "Deadwood") to locate and rescue Nash. The pair is thrust back into the world of espionage as they follow leads that span the globe -- and Steven and Samantha realize that this supercharged, undercover lifestyle provides the excitement and romance that their marriage has been missing. Also starring is Ben Schwartz (NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”).

The first new scripted series pickup for the 2010-11 season has gone to NBC's spy drama Undercovers from J.J. Abrams. The network made the 13-episode order this morning, two weeks before its upfront presentation in New York. Also on the fast track for an imminent series order is another Warner Bros.-produced drama pilot at NBC, Jerry Bruckheimer's Chase. “We have tremendous confidence in this promising series and feel this is a great way to kick off our upcoming Upfront development announcements,” said Jeff Gaspin, chairman of NBC Uni Television Entertainment., said of Undecovers. Abrams serves is the co-creator, executive producer and director of Undercovers, which stars Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as a typical married couple who happen to be spies. Josh Reims co-created the show and is executive producing with Bryan Burk.

Good news for fans of Ugly Betty‘s Becki Newton, Parenthood‘s Jason Ritter, and Gilmore Girls‘ Scott Patterson! NBC has given early pickups to three new series — the dramatic thriller The Event (starring Ritter and Patterson), the comedy Outsourced, and the anthology series Love Bites (starring Newton).

Keeping reading for the official series descriptions…

* The Event is an emotional high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Parenthood‘s Jason Ritter), an Everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, Leila (Sarah Roemer), and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history. Sean’s quest will send ripples through the lives of an eclectic band of strangers, including: newly elected U.S. President Martinez (Blair Underwood); Sophia (Laura Innes), who is the leader of a mysterious group of detainees; and Sean’s shadowy father-in-law (Gilmore Girls‘ Scott Patterson).  Their futures are on a collision course in a global conspiracy that could ultimately change the fate of mankind. Ian Anthony Dale (Daybreak) and Emmy winner Željko Ivanek (Damages) also star in the ensemble drama.

* Outsourced is a comedy where the Midwest meets the exotic East in a hilarious culture clash. The series centers on the all-American company Mid America Novelties that sells whoopee cushions, foam fingers and wallets made of bacon — and whose call center has suddenly been outsourced to India. Todd Dempsy (Ben Rappaport) is the new company’s manager who learns that he’s being transferred to India to run the operation. Overwhelmed, Todd discovers that his new staff needs a crash course in all things American if they are to understand the U.S. product line and ramp up sales from halfway around the world. But as strange as America seems to his eclectic sales team, Todd soon realizes that figuring out India will be more than a full-time job. Rizwan Manji (Privileged), Sacha Dhawan (BBC’s Five Days II), Rebecca Hazlewood (BBC’s Doctors), Parvesh Cheena (Help Me Help You), and Anisha Nagarajan (Broadway’s Bombay Dreams) also star as members of Dempsy’s off-shore team.

* From Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Cindy Chupack (Sex and the City), Love Bites is an hour-long romantic comedy anthology series featuring three loosely connected, modern stories of love, sex, marriage and dating. Each episode contains multiple vignettes, all illuminating the theme of love with an edgy, irreverent spin. Becki Newton (Ugly Betty) stars as Annie and Jordana Spiro (My Boys) stars as Frannie, the last two single girls standing after all of their friends get married. Annie is an infectiously bubbly optimist and Frannie is an always-a-bridesmaid realist. Their story will anchor the series, while other romantically-challenged characters will come and go each week. The pilot’s guest cast includes Jennifer Love Hewitt, Greg Grunberg, Craig Robinson, Jason Lewis, and Lindsay Price.

Last week, NBC picked up the J.J. Abrams-Josh Reims spy dramedy Undercovers, bringing to four the number of new shows the Peacock has greenlit for fall.

Still no news on bubble shows Chuck, Law & Order, Mercy etc.

Yuhu :cheer: Becki Newton series dobila pickup :cheer:

The folks over at TVAddict point out that NBC has apparently snatched up Twitter feeds for several shows that haven't yet been officially picked up. Along with Twitter feeds for previously announced pickups like "Undercovers" and "The Event", the network has also reserved feeds for "Chase," "The Cape," "Beach Lane," "Rockford Files," "Kindrids" and "The Strip." Notably available if anybody wants to snatch them up -- "Friends With Benefits," "This Little Piggy," "Perfect Couples." Of course, the network could just be covering its bases and show names do change ("This Little Piggy" -- does NBC want a title that makes viewers think of feet?).

Zanimljivo :E

CBS: "Hawaii Five-O" remains the most likely drama to receive a series order. Brett Ratner's CIA drama "Chaos" and legal drama "Defenders" with Jim Belushi and Jerry O’Connell are considered top contenders. Nobody seems to like the "Criminal Minds" spinoff, yet most believe the drama will get picked up for midseason anyway. Among comedies, "Bleep My Dad Says" (aka "Shit My Dad Says") seems to be an easy bet with William Shatner in the title role. Executives are said to like "HIMYM" creators' Carter Bays and Craig Thomas' "Livin' on a Prayer." Multicamera comedies "True Love" and Chuck Lorre's "Mike and Molly" have mixed reviews, but one can't ever count out Lorre at CBS.

Fox: The high-testing U.S. Marshals drama "Breakout Kings," Texas-set con-man drama "Midland" and Shawn Ryan's cop drama "Ride Along" continue to be listed as top contenders. It's still a question as to whether "Midland" is broad enough for broadcast. Steven Spielberg's dino-drama "Terra Nova" is considered as much of a lock as a drama can be considering the network hasn't seen a script yet (Brannon Braga is turning it in shortly). Among comedies, Greg Garcia's comedy "Keep Hope Alive" and male-friendship comedy "Traffic Light" are the frontrunners, with the Mitch Hurwiz/Will Arnett comedy "Wilde Kingdom" still having an outside chance if not deemed too smart for the room.

NBC: The remake of "Rockford Files" from "House" showrunner David Shore, as well as Jerry Bruckheimer's latest "Chase," remain near-locks. David E. Kelley's latest legal drama "Kindreds" is still warm. At one point it seemed like high-concept dramas "The Event" and "The Cape" were an either/or proposition, but now the former is picked up and the latter is generating unexpected heat. Among NBC's comedies, "This Little Piggy"and Paul Reiser's semi-autobiographical "Next" are the top contenders, with "Friends With Benefits" and "Perfect Couples" on the second tier. Matthew Broderick's "Beach Lane" is the dark horse, with sources saying the network may decide to pick up the show and retool it for midseason.

ABC: Few frontrunners are emerging out of ABC. The network is said to be giving reams of notes to showrunners. Superhero drama "No Ordinary Family" is considered solid, with Michael Chiklis delivering a strong performance and ABC eyeing an 8 p.m. time slot for the show. Shonda Rhimes' "Off the Map" and crime dramedy "Detroit 187" continue to be called sure bets. Medical examiner procedural "Body of Proof" and doc-style dramedy "Generation Y" were fairly well received, but not slam dunks. On the comedy side, Matthew Perry's "Mr. Sunshine" is looking the strongest. After that things get speculative, with "Wright vs. Wrong," "Happy Endings," "It Takes a Village" and "Who Gets the Parents" getting mixed remarks.

The CW: "La Femme Nikita" remake "Nikita" starring Maggie Q is practically on the schedule, with the network also excited about supernatural drama "Betwixt." Cheerleading show "Hellcats" is also well liked, though action-drama "Nomads" and "HMS" are considered long shots.

In the DVR era, auds may indeed be more inclined to watch shows on their own timetables -- but schedules and timeslots are still important.
As the broadcast nets continue to pick up new shows for the fall, a key determining factor in how each will perform is where it lands on the primetime sked. It may sound old-fashioned, but the best way to maximize a show's potential is to schedule it behind an established hit.

CBS, with the most hit shows, will be looking to use them to funnel viewers to its frosh fare, which figures to be heavy on comedy.

ABC, meanwhile, has more holes but will likely zero in on a couple of key nights, while Fox's priorities include finding a new signature drama and a live-action comedy hit.

And NBC, with fewer building blocks than its rivals, figures to focus on the 10 o'clock hour, where no new big hit show on any net has emerged for years and the competish isn't as intense. (And there certainly are good 10 p.m. slots available at the Peacock following this season's "Jay Leno Show" failure.)

Overall, comedy appears to be more of a priority for the Big Four than recent years, coming off a season in which most of the new successes -- led by "Glee" and "Modern Family" -- made auds chuckle. But exactly how and where the nets add comedy timeslots is a tougher call.

Here's a look at each network prior to next week's unveiling of fall skeds:

TV's demo leader for six years running will look to build on its "Glee" success by adding live-action comedy to its sked. The net has thrived with its Sunday animation block for years, but its last real live-action hit laffer was "Malcolm in the Middle."

A combo of "Traffic Light" and "Keep Hope Alive" might work in Tuesday's opening hour, leading into "Glee," which has moved to a new ratings level this spring and figures to be able to perform well in the fall even without a huge lead-in. And if the laffers struggle, there's always "American Idol" to slide into the timeslot come January.

The Monday hour behind "House" should see the net's top drama hopeful, perhaps "Breakout Kings" or "Ride Along."

Wednesday, which looks to be the most wide-open night, could see a new reality show and a new drama, keeping the genre combo intact that the net employs in the "Idol" half of the season. Midseason bubble show "Human Target" could also get another half a seasonto to prove itself here.

Thursday could stay the same, as "Fringe" held up reasonably well in a tough hour and "Bones" has been the net's best scripted performer on the night in some time.

Friday remains a tough nut to crack, and the net may be best served to go with movies or reality shows.

Sensing that comedy is hot, and believing it has several good laff prospects, look for the Eye to stick with its core three Monday sitcoms ("How I Met Your Mother," "Two and a Half Men" and "The Big Bang Theory") and add two or three newbies, which would be spread out over Monday and Wednesday.

It's unlikely two rookies will air on Wednesday, but picking which vet to anchor this night isn't easy. "Two and a Half Men" makes the most sense, although the net may be a bit queasy about putting such a sexually explicit half-hour at 8 (even though the show airs at an earlier hour in syndication).

Moving either "Mother" or "Big Bang," though, would necessitate several additional moves, and the usually cautious Eye may not want to shake things up quite so much.

In the end, it may come down to how the new comedies mesh with the vets. Something like "Bleep My Dad Says" with William Shatner would work best behind "Men," while "True Love" sounds good behind "Mother," and "Mike and Molly" could follow "Big Bang."

Elsewhere, the "Hawaii Five-O" redux seems like a good fit behind "NCIS: Los Angeles" on Tuesday, which would mean "The Good Wife" would have to relocate, perhaps to Friday.

Assuming "Undercover Boss" is back Sundays at 9, the net may want to take advantage and slot something at 10, and again "Five-O" could work.

Elsewhere in drama, the net's needs are pretty minimal, although some "CSI" franchise slot changes could be looming (see separate story, page 21). Among veteran bubble shows, "Numbers" and "Cold Case" aren't expected to be back, but "Cold Case" might work well as the occasional two-hour movie.

The biggest needs for the Alphabet are probably sprucing up its Sunday and Thursday lineups, which are still effective thanks to their 9 p.m. anchors, but definitely need some support.

"No Ordinary Family," which sounds like the best ABC hourlong hopeful, could slide into the 8 o'clock slot on either of these nights, with Sunday perhaps the more logical slot since it has family appeal. Longtime slot occupant "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" could either move to another night (like Friday) or be saved for occasional specials (in place of repeats) on Sunday.

Thursday could see the net possibly challenge Fox's "Bones" for the crime audience with Dana Delany's "Body of Proof" or the legal show "Matadors"; either would figure to provide "Grey's Anatomy" at least a decent lead-in -- something it's lacked the last couple of years.

If ABC's comedy development is good, three new half-hours could join the lineup, including a family-based laffer like "It Takes a Village" or "Nolan Knows Best" on the net's almost-there Wednesday lineup. The night could be capped by Shonda Rhimes' latest medical-themed series, "Off the Map," or the female-fronted copshow "Boston's Finest."

Tuesday comedy from 9 to 10 could work, with Matthew Perry's "Mister Sunshine" and "Happy Endings" as possible choices. There has also been talk of the net picking up "Old Christine" if CBS cancels it.

The only drama that may come back for a second season is "V," which has showed a little spunk of late and may be back on Tuesday.

Under Jeff Gaspin, the net's development appears to be its best in years, so look for the Peacock to make some noise at 10 o'clock with new offerings from big-name producers.

J.J. Abrams' "Undercovers" looks good to cap Mondays, although a 9 o'clock slot could also work, paired alongside "Chuck" and the final batch of "Heroes" episodes.

Tuesday should see the return of "The Biggest Loser," followed by perhaps anthology series "Love Bites" or this season's newcomer "Parenthood," which has been winning its hour among young adults and could benefit from timeslot stability. Another option would be "The Apprentice," which is due back in the fall with its first civilian version in a while -- although Wednesday at 8 might be a better slot.

The Peacock figures to go with "Law and Order" skeins to launch new shows on Wednesday and Friday. "SVU" could slide back to Wednesday at 9, followed by something like Jerry Bruckheimer's action procedural "Chase."

And Fridays make sense for "Rockford Files," which could be paired with the new "Law and Order: L.A." or the ancient "Law and Order" original.

On the Thursday comedy front, "Outsourced" may be the best bet to join the net's returnees, and would work best behind "The Office" at 9:30. Mediocre performer "30 Rock," which has had long enough to find an aud behind "The Office," could shift to the 8 o'clock hour along with either "Community" or "Parks and Rec" -- with the other being saved for midseason.

David E. Kelley's legal drama "Kindreds" would then be a good choice to close out the night.

Since rookie "The Vampire Diaries" is performing so well kicking off Thursday, CW may want to start the season with the seemingly compatible "Betwixt" behind it at 9, and save "Supernatural" for midseason.

The netlet should give this season's decently performing midseason entry "Life Unexpected" a chance to bloom in its second year. It, vet "One Tree Hill" and hot rookie prospect "Nikita" could all be part of a drama wheel on Monday to cut down on repeats.

That would mean a compatible pairing of "Gossip Girl" and "90210" on Tuesday, while a good choice behind "Top Model" on Wednesday might be cheerleading drama "Hellcats."

WTF? :zubo: TAAHM srijedom? Jea rajt... Cold Case filmovi? Ha?! The Apprentice srijedom u 8 - nema šanse... :o

Remember on Friday when NBC gave series orders to three UMS-produced pilots, Love Bites, The Event and Outsourced there was one frontrunner conspicuously missing from the list? Rumor is the Jerry Bruckheimer/Warner Bros-produced procedural drama Chase will get its series pickup tomorrow (Monday). The show has already been making “if come offers.” Chase, created by Jennifer Johnson, marks the 16 consecutive pilot directed by David Nutter to go to series. That's why they call him "The Pilot Whisperer".

...I evo jedan zanimljiv intervju :D

With 20 pilots in contention for next season, NBC has wasted no time in awarding series orders. Having picked up J.J. Abrams’ spy drama “Undercovers” earlier last week, on Friday the network granted series status to serialized conspiracy thriller “The Event,” the single-camera East-meets-West workplace comedy “Outsourced” and the hourlong romantic comedy “Love Bites.” In an exclusive pre-upfront interview, NBC Entertainment president Angela Bromstad talks about the network’s new shows and what the Peacock has planned for next season.

THR: Can you give us a sense of what “Undercovers” will be like on a week-to-week basis?

Angela Bromstad: It’s a stand-alone adventure every week. It’s a great modernized “Hart to Hart” with great banter and lightness in tone.

How much involvement will Abrams have after the pilot?

Bromstad: J.J. will stay involved in the show. It greatly depends on his feature schedule, but he’s absolutely committed to being active in this show.

THR: Will he be directing or writing any more episodes?

Bromstad: He’s got two movies, so the directing will have to be subject to his availability. I think he will have a strong hand overseeing the writing.

THR: Then there’s “The Event.” This went from low buzz to hot to pick-up really fast.

Bromstad: We looked at “Lost” going off the air, “24” going off the air. We wanted something that could fill that void for viewers that was a high-octane mystery thriller. It’s about an average guy who’s caught up in this conspiracy. You follow four major characters involved in this. It’s serialized, and I love that it was low buzz because the script was incredible, then it goes into production and you never know what’s going to come back. Everybody says that to follow shows like “Lost” and “24,” you have to hit it out of the park, and therefore were dismissing “The Event.” And guess what? We hit it out of the park, and we were absolutely blown away.

THR: So presumably, with that model, you’re looking to air “Event” midseason like “Lost” and “24,” so it can run straight through?

Bromstad: Not necessarily. We picked it up early to give our writers on these high-degree-of-difficulty shows like “Love Bites” and “The Event” a head start.

THR: You air your genre shows on Mondays. Do you think that will continue next season with “Event”?

Bromstad: We have another genre piece in contention, and we have “Chuck.” We’re going to hash out the schedule over the next week.

THR: The other genre show you’re referring to is “The Cape.” I heard that came in strong, too.

Bromstad: It looks fantastic. We just saw it with special effects today. It’s closed-ended, and the hero catches the bad guy every week. Decisions are still outstanding, though, because we haven’t gotten back our testing yet.

THR: You said “We have ‘Chuck’” when talking about Mondays. Can we put these fans out of their misery and just say it’s picked up?

Bromstad: It’s our highest-performing Monday night show. We look at it as a very strong player, and it’s a show that matches up with our new shows. It’s too early for me to say for certain as it’s a conversation we’re going to have next week.

THR: With “Event” getting picked up and “Cape” looking good, does that mean “Heroes” is less likely to get that final-season order?

Bromstad: With serialized shows like “Parenthood” and “Heroes” that don’t perform well in repeats, we could be looking at shows sharing the same time slots (split between fall and spring). I wouldn’t count anything out. With shows like that, we really have to sit down and figure out all the pieces of the schedule.

THR: “Outsourced” seems like a perfect fit for Thursday nights.

Bromstad: It really does. It tested great. It’s smart and has that originality we always look for. When it’s a passion project of (showrunner) Ken Kwapis, we feel very good about those auspices.

THR: You already have your other Thursday night comedies picked up. If you pick up more comedies, you’re presumably going to open another block somewhere.

Bromstad: Right. We just got in our final comedy today. We have to get in all of our testing. We have to figure out if we have enough to open a third hour of comedy.

THR: Among your other pilots, how does the “Rockford Files” reboot look?

Bromstad: We just got it today. It screened really well. Dermot Mulroney is great. We have no testing back, but it’s a high bar, and we’re going to need to watch the cut another time and see the research.

THR: And David E. Kelley’s “Kindreds”?

Bromstad: “Kindreds” was a really interesting pilot. People thought it was really original, and it screened well. Kathy Bates tested higher than any character ever tested, so there’s something special about that one.

THR: Some say "Beach Lane" is a potential dark horse for midseason...

Bromstad: All those conversations are still ongoing. We need some time to look at these.

THR: Can you tease to your upfront presentation? What should the audience expect?

Bromstad: They should expect to see a good amount of footage from the shows and less executive talk.

THR: Because you will have so many new shows, does the network plan to use the traditional September premiere week, or will you roll out shows earlier or later?

Bromstad: We’ll go with the traditional premiere week, though it doesn’t mean we’ll launch everything that week. But we’re looking at a traditional fall launch.

THR: The network recently renewed a trio of reality shows (“The Marriage Ref,” “Minute to Win It,” “Who Do You Think You Are?”). Because you have so many new scripted shows coming, is it fair to assume the reality shows will be for midseason?

Bromstad: Yes, and those don’t have to air in a traditional cycle. The upfront is going to focus on scripted.

THR: What’s your overall goal for the fall?

Bromstad: We made a lot of pilots and the teams worked incredibly hard, and fortunately, we have a lot to choose from. We have great concepts and actors and found some great new faces. We want the best of the best — the most original breakout comedies and dramas. That’s what we’re aspiring to.

NBC announced today that it has picked up its fifth series for the 2010-11 season – a drama called Chase from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI). The series that will star Kelli Giddish (Past Life), Cole Hauser (K-Ville), Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break), and Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) is about a team of U.S. marshals who hunt down America’s most dangerous fugitives. “Chase has all the undeniable elements of a thrill ride that you would expect from a Jerry Bruckheimer action series,” said Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios, in a statement.  “Equally important, it also features a great cast.  Kelli Giddish is a breakout star as the lead.”
NBC already announced that it has picked up Undercovers, The Event, Love Bites, and Outsourced for fall. More pickups are expected in anticipation of NBC’s fall presentation to advertisers on May 17 in New York.
Chase was written by Jennifer Johnson (Cold Case).

EDIT:

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC is getting a jump on upfront week as the Peacock will now announce its 2010-11 season lineup on Sunday, May 16.

A media alert issued this afternoon confirmed the conference call will take place at 5:15 p.m. ET.

NBC's formal presentation is Monday morning with FOX following later that day. Rounding out the week is ABC on Tuesday, May 18 with CBS on Wednesday, May 19 and The CW on Thursday, May 20.

Woah  The fun starts earlier :E :top: Nice :D
