HBO has given a third-season renewal to "Girls."
Though the network would not confirm, the sitcom's star and exec producer Lena Dunham told Alec Baldwin on a podcast earlier this week, "We're starting season three at the end of March. I'm so excited."
"Girls" is currently in the middle of its second season, which began on Jan. 13. The season opener drew 866,000 for its initial 9 p.m. telecast and 1.6 million over three telecasts.
Show picked up plenty of hardware that same night at the Golden Globes. The series was named best TV comedy and Dunham was award for top lead comedy actress.
Dunham, who also writes several episodes, said the series would be shooting the new season in Silvercup Studios in Gotham, on the same stage where Baldwin's series "30 Rock" used to film. "30 Rock" is wrapping up its final season now on NBC.
"Girls" is exec produced by Dunham, Judd Apatow, Jenni Konner, Ilene S. Landress and Bruce Eric Kaplan.
